  • Scientists Make-Thin Plastic Battery

Battery, which in everyday life is very useful to energize the various electronic items and gadgets that we use, seems to be ‘thrown’ into the trash. Scientists in England created a sheet of plastic that can store and release electrical energy. This battery will change the way we use cell phones, driving a car, or maybe it could also change the way we dress.

In the future, various gadgets that we use may be as thin as a credit card. Such technology also brings us into the computer age with flexible screens that can be folded, rolled up and portable like a sheet of thin paper. It is not possible all the energy storage of plastic materials can be used to make ‘electric clothing’ that can recharge gadgets energy needs for the traveling person.

Dr Emile Greenhalgh from Imperial College London said that
actually the material is not a material developed for the battery, but a super capacitor material. The shape and design developed by Greenhalgh and his team have five-inch square size and are stacked to resemble a very thin wafers, It takes five seconds while recharging the energy required to light the LED for 20 minutes.

Greenhalgh was then working with the Volvo car Company make the material to be used for electric cars. He also felt very confident that the car in the future could fill the energy from the roof of the house or even the door, Read the rest of this entry »
